What does it take to become a Real Ear Typist?
Our vision at Real Ear Transcripts is to become the leading transcription service in the UK. To achieve this goal, we only hire the best transcriptionists. Therefore, our acceptance criteria are extremely high.
In order to be considered for our recruitment process, we require all applicants to have a solid work history as a transcriptionist for a reputable company for several years. Additionally, they should be able to provide references and examples of past projects.
If you meet these standards, you will enter our recruitment training process. This process will determine whether you can perform at the level of excellence that our clients expect.
What is the rate of pay?

How much will I be expected to work? Is the role flexible?

Here at Real Ear, we’re big advocates of a flexible remote work lifestyle, so we always leave it up to our typists to decide how much typing they can handle each week.
The only request we have is that you can dedicate a specific amount consistently so that we can plan our projects accordingly.
We have a variety of typists who work with us, some on a full-time basis, and others who work part-time, so it’s entirely up to you and what works best for your schedule.

What is the application process and how do I apply?
Our application process is fairly rigorous and consists of multiple stages.
Firstly, the applicant shows their interest via email. Then, we request some background information such as the previous projects the applicant has worked on and their employers.
If we believe the applicant may be a good fit, one of our recruitment team members will arrange an informal call.
The second stage of the process is with our quality control team. They will explain the exact standards of work we expect, including the writing style and formatting of our transcripts.
The applicant will then be given a project to complete. After the assessment of their assignment, we will notify them of their success.
If successful, the new typist will have an introduction with the company’s CEO who will welcome them to the team.
